Principal’s Message

Welcome to Hawthorne Elementary School! It is my sincere pleasure to introduce myself as the Principal at Hawthorne Elementary for the 2024/25 school year. I would like to acknowledge that we are teaching, learning and playing on the traditional territory of the Tsawwassen and Musqueam First Nations and of all the Hun’qumi’num speaking people who have been stewards of this land since time immemorial.

We are an English Kindergarten to Grade 7 school located in the heart of Ladner, a vibrant and welcoming community in South Delta. In addition to our school program, Hawthorne houses a private daycare offering various services. Mr. Penny, our Vice Principal, and myself, would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our returning families and to our new families joining us at Hawthorne. We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead with all of our staff and students. We are very proud to be a part of team that is focused on providing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for all our students and staff while also creating a strong learning environment where our students can thrive.

Our staff are knowledgeable, caring, supportive and professional and are also looking forward to a wonderful year with all our students. They are committed to working with families and community partners to support our students academically, socially and emotionally. Additionally, we have a wonderful, active Parent Advisory Committee that meets regularly and contributes in many positive ways at Hawthorne. Their work in our community helps to support and enhance student learning and coordinate wonderful community events such as hot lunch days and various fundraisers that bring our community together.

We are looking forward to working together to have a wonderful 2024/25 school year!

Ms. Tricia Stec Skillings, Principal
