Principal's Message
Welcome back to another school year. I hope that you have all had an enjoyable summer and found plenty of time for rest and relaxation. I am looking forward to joining the Hawthorne community this year and participating in the many great things that happen at this school due to the efforts of its staff, students and parents. This will be a fall that presents some unique challenges with regard to BCTF job action and we will be in constant communication with the parent community to keep them advised on the latest developments. If you should have any questions or concerns regarding job action, or any other issues, please do not hesitate in contacting myself or Mrs. Wyatt, Hawthorne's Vice-Principal.
As we head into a new school year, it is important to remember that at Hawthorne Elementary School, our focus is on student achievement. Our mission is to assist children in becoming life-long responsible and independent learners. We also work to provide a safe, and cooperative place of learning; celebrate our diversity and develop a climate of respect. We encourage students to continuously strive for their personal best and we teach an academically challenging curriculum. This year, several new staff members will bring their many talents, skills and love for children to our instructional program at Hawthorne.
The school has positive parent support. The school has a group of Parent Advisory Council members who extend their influence into the community and encourage more people to get involved. We invite you to visit our school and join our community of learners.
